About the Artist:

Sue Reno is an award winning fiber artist who lives and works in Lancaster County, PA. Her rich and intricate art quilts featuring landscape images and botanical subjects are inspired by her surroundings, incorporating plants from her extensive organic garden and from the fringes of cultivation. She also works with architectural subjects, and has just completed a series of ten quilts documenting the transformation of the beaux-arts style Watt & Shand department store into a hotel and convention center.

She employs surface design techniques including cyanotypes, heliographic prints, and image transfers as the basis for works that also incorporate unusual and hand painted fabrics, hand and machine stitching, and beadwork.

Her work was featured in an episode of “Simply Quilts” on HGTV, on the cover of The Professional Quilter magazine, in Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, and Machine Quilting Unlimited.

Sue has exhibited in solo shows as well as participating in numerous art and fine craft exhibits at venues including The Pennsylvania State Museum, the Robeson gallery at Penn State, the Wolf Gallery at York College and the Bellefonte Museum, all in PA; the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ, the Greater Denton Art Council, TX, and the Museum of Fine Art in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; plus regularly contributing to quilt festivals including those in Lancaster PA, Houston TX, Denver CO, Chicago IL, Long Beach CA, Hampton VA and Santa Clara CA.
