About the Artist:
Sue Reno is an award winning fiber artist who lives and works in Lancaster County, PA. Her rich and intricate art quilts featuring landscape images, botanical subjects and local wildlife are inspired by her surroundings, incorporating plants from her extensive organic garden and from the fringes of cultivation. She also works with architectural subjects, focusing on historical buildings that are in the process of renovation.
She employs surface design techniques including cyanotypes, heliographic prints, and image transfers as the basis for works that also incorporate unusual and hand painted fabrics, hand and machine stitching, and beadwork.
Sue's work has been selected for the U.S. State Department Art in Embassies program in Vientiane, Laos. Her work was featured in an episode of “Simply Quilts” on HGTV, on the cover of The Professional Quilter magazine, in Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, Machine Quilting Unlimited, The Quilt Life, and 1000 Artisan Textiles.
Sue has exhibited in solo shows as well as participating in numerous art and fine craft exhibits at venues including The Pennsylvania State Museum, the Robeson gallery at Penn State, the Wolf Gallery at York College and the Bellefonte Museum, all in PA; the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ, the Chandler Center for the Arts, AZ, the Texas Quilt Museum, La Grange, TX, the Greater Denton Art Council, TX, the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY, and the Museum of Fine Art in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; plus regularly contributing to quilt festivals across the US.
